Live, Laugh, Love, Lead

“Live, Laugh, Love & Lead” became my mantra for life almost 3 years ago, after going through a very tough season. I found myself in a battle–one that was more internal than external. Beloved, I tell you, you truly have not fought a real battle until you war with those that are within the confines of your own mind and spirit. Those battles are hardest to fight because most of the time, you are warring within yourself. During that season of my life I felt like giving up on everything and everyone, including God and the ministry that God placed inside of me. It seemed that everywhere I turned, there were issues, problems and pain. I did not feel like going to church; I did not feel like praying; I did not feel like being around myself, much less people. It felt like everyone was against me and I felt like I wasn’t going to make it. At any given moment, I was ready to call it quits. To make matters worse, God spoke to me only once, and never said anything else during that timeframe. That season lasted 1,051,920 minutes, 17,532 hours, 730 days, yet God spoke only once!!! Through all of that, it wasn’t until 2010, after hanging out in my own “pigpen”, that I came to myself, and said, GET UP! God has not only promised life, but He promised an abundant life. It was at that very moment that I began to reevaluate my life.

I’ve discovered two ways I could live in abundance, knowing every day is a non-refundable, precious gift from God. The first way to live in abundance is to seize the day. One of the great patriarchs of the Old Testament, King David, sets an awesome example of how to seize the day. In Psalm 142:1- 4, we find King David held up in a cave, hiding from Saul, running for his life. He was frightened, battered, exasperated and defeated. But in verses 5 – 6 David starts to praise God. What happened? Saul didn’t concede. The cave didn’t turn into a luminous palace. The only thing that transformed was David’s attitude! If you’re waiting for all of your bills to be paid, everything in your life to be perfect, everyone who doesn’t like you to favor you, or a better job, YOU WON’T EVER BE HAPPY!!! David’s prayers didn’t modify his situation for him, his prayers revolutionized him for his situation. When you allow people and problems to determine your happiness, you are giving too much power to external forces that impact your internal peace.

The final way that I learned to live everyday in abundance is to serve the Lord. If Jesus is not your Lord, then who is? And how long are we supposed to serve Him? Every day until the last day! When are we supposed to start? NOW! It is never too late.

Beloved, today is the day that the Lord has made! I admonish you on this day to LIVE in abundance every second of this day! LAUGH all day long! LOVE every hour that you have left! This day will never come again, so let us not waste it. Beloved, LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE, and LEAD!

A soda bottle reads: “No Deposit, No Return.” If you don’t go to the trouble of bringing it back, you don’t get anything back. That’s life!!! The only way you get something out of life is when you bring your life back to where you got it from–to God! God is the giver of life, but not just life, ABUNDANT LIFE! Take what you have been given and give it back to the One who gave it. No deposit, no return! Put your life in God’s hands and “LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE & LEAD”!

Create your great…

Stop! Stop trying to “make” it a great day, and begin to “create” your great day. The reasoning is because you were created by a creative God; He specializes in CREATING and not making. Beloved, you can make a cake because you have all of the ingredients. You have the flour, eggs, milk, etc. If you have all the ingredients you can make it. God wanted me to tell you that there are going to be days in your life when you will not have all the “ingredients” to make a great day; so stop “making” and begin CREATING.

There is a difference in “making” vs. “creating.” As we read in Genesis Chapter 1 notice that God did not make the heavens and earth, God created heaven and earth. God had to create it because He did not have anything to start from. If you look even more closely, the only thing God had was chaos. The first 5 verses of the Bible inform us that God brought order out of chaos. Did you get it? That word right there was just for you! Chaos always precedes order. Look at how the earth was described: void, darkness, and empty. Sometimes these adjectives describe may describe the various seasons in our lives. At some time or another we have found something about our lives that can be described with words such as “formless”, “empty”, and “dark.” You feel as if there is no hope – that everything is formless and empty, and that darkness covers everything- darkness in the mind, darkness on the job, darkness in the schools, darkness in the neighborhood and yes even sometimes darkness in the midst of the church. In darkness, you cannot see. In darkness you stumble and fall. That is what the devil will do to us. He will make it so we are unable to see. In darkness we cannot see our God-given vision. It is crucial that we understand that darkness can’t steal the vision but makes it so that you cannot see the vision. If any of the above describes you, I am so glad that you stopped by to read this blog because in Genesis 1 there is a life-changing word for you after reading and digesting these next few steps. I guarantee that you will internally take another great leap into your destiny and no longer “make it a great day” but CREATE your great day- your great life.

Your creative power is found in the first few verses of Genesis. You have that power because God said, through Jesus, you will not only be able to do what I have done, but you will do greater!

There are 3 powerful elements that were involved in the creation. To bring order out of chaos, you have already been endowed with 3 prevailing elements:

First, God used his MIND. God had a vision of how he wanted heaven and earth to look. God did not use the present state of heaven and earth to dictate the future of heaven and earth. The vision was beyond the present reality. Beloved, you must see yourself beyond your present state. God has more. You may being saying, “Where I am is great, all is well.” Guess what, God has even more! As a matter of fact, if your vision is not larger than your present reality you need to re-envision because God can do more than you can ever think or imagine. Nevertheless, it is important that our mind is focused. If the enemy can keep your mind off of God and the promises that He has spoken over your life then the enemy has you right where he wants you. When we focus our minds on the pain, the trouble, the dilemma, the fault, and the hassle it is difficult to envision healing, breakthrough, forgiveness, joy or that open door. Use your MIND!

Secondly, God used his MOUTH. The vision that was in his mind he spoke it with his mouth. In the midst of chaos, God begin to speak order. Don’t allow the enemy to muzzle your tongue as it relates to the goodness of the Lord or what the Lord has promised you. You must begin to speak those things that are not as though they are. A closed mouth never gets fed. My brother, my sister, open up your mouth and begin to speak the word of God over that situation. Begin speaking to God with a spirit of expectation. Don’t limit God by your personal limitations. Use your MOUTH!

Finally, we see the Spirit hovering over. You may have experienced flying and sometimes once you have reached your destination, Air Traffic Control has not cleared the plane for landing so the plane hovers over the airport. That is what the Spirit was doing- waiting for something to land on, waiting for God to speak so that it can give LIFE. Beloved, don’t be satisfied with the Spirit just hovering over you. Give the Spirit permission to land. Allow the Spirit to land on your God-given vision. Clear the way for the Spirit to land on your goals. The Spirit is hovering over your life- ready to bring LIFE to those dead situation but you have to SPEAK. You have to open your mouth. I promise that if you do that, watch chaos transform into order in your life. Use the SPIRIT!

One more thing. God dropped into my spirit for you that it took Him 6 days to create heaven and earth. Each time we brought order out of a chaotic situation, God celebrated. Beloved, make sure you celebrate each step you make. Celebrate each milestone, each objective; it doesn’t matter how big or small. CELEBRATE! God did, God said, “IT’S GOOD!” Create a great…

Do you Boo!

DO YOU BOO!
Theorist Erik Erikson coined the term identity crisis and believed that it was one of the most important conflicts people face in development. Identity is the greatest challenge in life! No if, ands, buts about it. Imagine how much peace and prosperity persons would receive if they either knew who they were truly created to be and by doing so could “DO” who they are! By the time you finish reading this tidbit, you will be inspired to “DO YOU BOO!”
I consider myself a leader, therefore, each day I find myself reading something about leadership. Leadership is not just about helping others reach their full potential, but leadership is about helping yourself. You can’t be a leader of others, unless you learn to lead yourself! Thusly, in order to lead yourself, you must know yourself. Well, here is Daryl Kearney’s first commandment in leadership.
Know thy self, you can lead thy self!
Who you are defines so much. Who you are defines how you handle yourself on the job. Who you are dictates how you relate to people. Who you are determines how you raise your children, how you speak about others, how you handle difficulty, how you respond to the haters… Who you are even defines how you relate to God. Did you know that we are commanded to love only 3 persons?
Love God!
Love Self!
Love Others!
In that order, therefore, in order to love others, you must love self, in order to love self, you must love God! When you love yourself, you know who you are and whose you are! So to deal with the IDENTITY CRISIS that all experience at some point in our lives, Beloved, understand:
God created you: For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalm 139:13. But not only do we acknowledge that God has created each and every one of us, we recognize that God is continually shaping each of us; continually forming and reforming us as elements of His creation. We are clay in the hands of the Master Potter. God shapes our lives – and this is a continual process.
God owns you: Beloved, you do not belong to yourself, I want to remind you what the Bible says: “You are not your own; you were bought at a price.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Even while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us and saved us.
So who else could have the privilege, permission, the power, the right to tell me who I am other than God Himself? I conclude that God is the author of my identity. He alone gets to tell me who I am. After all, it is God who created me. It is God who shapes me. It is God who has purchased me. God has not made us all the same. Discover WHO you are -your natural abilities and enjoy them. Rabbits don’t fly. Eagles don’t swim. Squirrels don’t have feathers. Ducks look funny trying to climb trees. EVERYBODY, including you, HAS A PURPOSE; You Must Find Your Purpose, You Are Equipped for that Purpose. Using your gifts, for their intended purpose, to the fullest, provides meaning to your life. Otherwise you wander aimlessly living empty lives.
